At Cookies Cream, we’re picky when it comes to food.
For us, taste isn’t a coincidence; it’s the result of seasonal ingredients, regional origins, and sustainable practices. These values don’t stop at our kitchen doors in Berlin, they reach further, all the way to the Mbigili Children’s Village in Tanzania, a place where we share our knowledge with very special people.
With Charity At, we’ve been supporting the Mbigili Children’s Village since 2008. A new home for 83 children who, for various reasons, can no longer live with their families. They live in six houses and are cared for by 38 full-time professionals. The focus is on safe childhoods, individual support, education, and psychosocial care. Sounds big? It is.

The heart of the village is its own farm, directly connected to the children’s houses. On several fields and in greenhouses, everything the kids need grows: maize, tomatoes, bananas, papayas, herbs, guavas, cabbage, lettuce, all homegrown. A farm manager plus a crew keep things running, supported by the housemothers and the children themselves. Thanks to a modern irrigation system, everything stays stable despite the heat.
And yes, the kids are enthusiastic participants. In the so-called Kids Club, they learn how to grow vegetables, care for plants, take responsibility, and even earn a small pocket money from the harvest. The farm also includes goats, pigs, cows, and chickens, lovingly cared for by the children.
Every day, fresh meals are cooked. Five kitchen mothers make sure breakfast, lunch, and dinner are just right. Breakfast might include Uji, a liquid porridge made from grains and milk, homemade bread, fruit, and eggs once a week.
A typical dish in Tanzania, often served in the children’s village, is Ugali, a firm usually sticky maize porridge served with Maharage, cooked brown beans, Mboga majani, spinach-like leaves, and sometimes Samaki, fish.
Sustainable and fresh food matters to us, both in the Mbigili Children’s Village and at Cookies Cream.
If we have the privilege to enjoy fresh, sustainable food,
then the children in Mbigili should be able to enjoy it too.
To keep this project running and ensure the children continue to have this in the future, we rely on donations. Every bit helps and 100% of it goes directly to the children’s village.
